"Terror Hits Home"

Special Guest:
Karen Kaplan

Karen has written a cover story in The Chicago Jewish News  Oct -25-13 called TERROR HITS HOME.  Karen's harrowing experience of a home invasion in March 2013,  sparked memories of her father's traumatic experience during the onset of the Holocaust. Her father, Arie Kaplan,  witnessed  his mother and sister pulled out of their home and murdered by a mob. He fled through the forests and survived. He never forgot those gruesome years in Poland and lived with the pain his entire life. Karen and her family also felt the pangs of the Holocasut as her father was abusive to each member of their family. Unlike her father, Karen understood that in order to move forward and heal she needed to forgive those home invaders.Through months of counseling, Karen was finally able  to let go of her anger and fear and be at peace. You can find the article on her website at Karenlkaplan.com.

Karen L. Kaplan  was born and raised in West Rogers Park, a Jewish neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. She received her B.A. from the University of Illinois in Chicago in Nutrition and Medical Dietetics. She also trained at The Claret Center of Hyde Park, Il. for a certificate as a Spiritual Director. Karen maintained a private practice and lectured for many years throughout the Chicago metropolitan area on general health, weight loss, and spirituality, in medical practices, high schools, churches, synagogues, community centers and health clubs.
