The end of the world as we know it?

Lets talk about the motives of politicians, why don't we expect our fellow citzens to carry their share of the load? Pouring money into unproductive social programs generates no return on investment. Money earmarked to such things is gone for ever. It is a much better idea to support the businesses that gennerate revenue, and expect people to support themselves. If it is too easy to survive, many will not be motivated.
