The Purple Dinosaur Podcast returns to talk about a Colorado Rockies team that has fallen mostly out of the playoff picture. It's probably because we all noticed and started talking about it. Dang. But hey! Still things to get excited about.

Doug Maurer, friend of the PDP and radio voice of the Class A Asheville Tourists, joins this week's edition of the show to talk about the Tourists' 2016 season and dive into an evaluation of top prospect Brendan Rodgers's first full professional campaign. Beyond that, we discuss slugging first baseman Brian Mundell, struggling pitcher Jesus Tinoco, three-toddlers-stacked-on-top-of-each-other-wearing-a-trenchcoat Peter Lambert, and much more.

Will the Rockies call up pitching prospect Jeff Hoffman? The answer is YES, but we didn't know that when we recorded this. So you'll get a lot of discussion of why the Rox will or won't call him up (reminder: they already are) and what it could look like if they do (again).

Finally, we'll discuss what the Rockies' affiliate family could look like in 2017 with the club likely forced out of Class A Advanced Modesto via that team's purchase by the Seattle Mariners. Could the Rox head back to the Carolina League? It's possible. We'll break it all down.
