Some say that recent trade agreements have been detrimental to the average person while benefiting corporations. The Trans Pacific Partnership is said to be detrimental to our national sovereignty. Much of the agreement is secret, however, segments have been leaked to the public and indicate that governments could be sued by corporations if their profits are impacted by regulation. This means that a corporation could sue a government over regulations concerned with drug or food safety if the actions affected profit. A government could be sued for subsidizing a local industry if it affected the profit of an international company. The Transpacific Partnership - TPP has many people concerned. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Pacific_Partnership The Trade Promotional Authority - TPA would give the President of the United States the power to negotiate trade agreements that congress could not alter.
