Sheik Akbar Shabaz, (real name Nizar Watfa) is a professional wrestler who has primarily worked for PWA – The Prairie Wrestling Alliance based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Nizar started with PWA doing security at events for 2 years before training in PWA under the tutelage of instructors Red Thunder (Morris Nepoose) and Tex Gaines (Ivan Thomsen) who were both graduates of the Hart Dungeon. Nizar made his debut as Nightmare #2 in 2009 eventually forming a tag team known as the Nightmares. The Nightmares became huge fan favourites facing several tag teams in PWA including a long feud with Super Wild comprised of Superfly Dan and Mattias Wild (who now competes in WWE as Tyler Breeze). At the time former WWE superstar Lance Storm was booking for PWA. The Nightmares captured the PWA Canadian tag Team Titles and continued to defend them until losing them in 2011. The Nightmares eventually broke up and Nizar debut his new persona Sheik Akbar Shabaz in 2013. Sheik Shabaz was introduced as a wealthy privileged heel that proclaimed to be better than all the other competitors in PWA.
