Margaret Candler was a CPS worker for nine years. The last four years of her career were spent investigating reports of child sexual abuse with the local county police department. In 1995 Margaret quit because she could no longer bear the responsibilities of the difficult decisions that she had to make. Margaret met Elsa Newman in the spring of 2001 at an Earth Charter meeting.As she sat next to Elsa, Margaret mentioned her work with CPS. In return, Elsa shared the abuse that her children were enduring at the hands of their father. Margaret then made a report to the county of Montgomery. What happened next is a chain of event that cumulated in Elsa's imprisonment of 8+ years.
