Joining us this week on Planet Good Radio is Ryan Fix of The PURE Project, a unique organization dedicated to supporting a creative sustainable economy via the transformation of ideas into value based, enterprises that are sustainable on all levels. The PURE Project has been responsible for helping to launch and manage several other unique ventures including: FIGMENT - an annual arts and culture celebration that transforms an entire island in New York Harbor every summer; Openhouse - a pop-up retail exhibition gallery located in SoHo/NoLiTa, NYC with a triple bottom line. Openhouse is designed to act as a specialized venue for any event, product, brand, artist, or concept that promotes sustainability - be it through direct action or charitable contribution. Picnick - a sustainable restaurant concept that serves as a mini-model of consumer & eco-conscious food service. Picnick sources most ingredients from small farms and local businesses and any global vendors must meet Fair Trade quotas or adhere to a socially conscious philanthropy. Packaging and disposables are biodegradable or compostable. Many of the products directly support social and environmental causes and revenues are tied to the beautification of Battery Park. Ryan will fill us in on how creativity and innovation can be better tapped by all of us to create new and more wonderful social enterprises.
