The idea that there are people out there who don't like to read is a foreign concept to me. In my mind, how can you NOT like reading? What do you mean you hate reading?

For those who don't like to read, this show is for you. I had a lovely talk with Dr. Joseph Bentz about his upcoming book, The Power of Literature: Unlocking the Hidden Pleasures
of Reading. This book tries to capture that magic. The book is designed to reveal in fresh ways the pleasures that literature can bring, including some that are familiar and others
that are rarely acknowledged. The book probes why people don’t like literature, why reading is so hard, how books can bring out our heroism, how books can bring
people together, and how poetry, drama, and fiction can inspire, entertain, disturb, enlighten, and affirm us. It describes the “secrets behind the magic”—the techniques,
tricks, and tools writers use to make their words irresistible.
