Nader Jawad welcomes Sylviane Mathieu, whose son, Romain Mathieu, took his own life due to PFS. In June 2016, the 25-year-old Parisian, who had several months earlier moved home from London where he'd been studying at Europe's most prestigious business school, and had been scheduled to intern at Deutsche Bank, sealed himself in a tent at a local park. Then he released carbon monoxide gas which, as intended, killed him. The would-be investment banker signed his suicide note “A victim of Propecia.” He'd been suffering from PFS for 3 years.

If you'd like to get in touch with Sylviane, who heads a group of 80 French PFS patients and counting, please email her at: sylvianemillon@gmail.com

Nader will also discuss the news that Donald Trump takes Propecia. A day after The New York Times broke that story, Dr. Daniel Marchalik wrote a Washington Post column, noting:

A review of 17 randomized controlled trials…demonstrated a nearly twofold increase in sexual, ejaculatory and orgasmic dysfunction in young men using Propecia... At the same time, a recent study demonstrated changes in the levels of certain steroids in cerebrospinal fluid of men taking finasteride... These steroids have been shown to influence brain function, and their presence may help explain the profound psychological changes such as depression and suicidality...This research should cause us to think more carefully about this commonly encountered medication.
