Tiny Survivors - Children with Cancer
Christina Thomas is a lady with a mission. After losing her son Gavin to Neuroblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer that develops in nerve tissue, she and her neighbors sponsored the Annapolis Curesearch walk for Children’s Cancer in 2012. Christina experienced first hand the chemo, radiation and drugs that these tiny cancer patients endure and the impact and long term damage it does to their bodies. This September 27th will be the fourth annual Curesearch walk in Annapolis.
CureSearch for Children’s Cancer’s mission is to end children’s cancer by driving targeted and innovative research with measurable results in an accelerated time frame.Curesearch funds money for research AND clinical trials for childhood cancer. Only 4% of money from the National Cancer Institute goes to childhood cancer - This is why private organizations need to help! The annual walk is typically held in September as September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Listen in as Mark and Carolyn talk with Christina about the challenges of dealing with childhood cancer and the rewards of starting the Annapolis Curesearch Walk.
