Dr. Mario Castellanos: Understanding The Differences in your Chronic Pelvic Pain

Join our original "Pelvic Messenger" Elisabeth Oas, as she interviews Dr. Mario Castellano of Phoenix Arizona. He is here to discuss some of the underlying causes of the biggest diagnoses chronic pelvic pain patients deal with. While many of us, have IC, Endo, Pudendal Neuralgia and more...we also often might have other diagnoses going on we are unaware of, that are either mimicking these bigger players or making them worse. In either case treating these other diagnoses is important to feeling better!! Dr. Castellanos expertise includes pudendal neuralgia, pelvic congestion syndrome, pelvic floor muscle spasms, interstitial cystitis, and pain related to vaginal mesh procedures. He has special skills in pudendal nerve decompression surgery, ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks, and Botox trigger point injections. He is also a fellowship trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon for the treatment of complex pelvic pathology and pelvic pain.

 He has presented at national congregations and published on various topics related to chronic pelvic pain. He is an active member of the AAGL and the International Pelvic Pain Society. It was his research and work presented at the 2014 IPPS annual conference, that inspired us to have him on the show! Discussing these very complicated and critical topics can make a world of difference for the overall well being for the patient living with pelvic pain.
