The Hitting Stops Here! will return to Temple, TX to meet with the Temple Independent School District Superintendent and Board. This meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 14 at 6pm. Paula Flowe will speak and two or three other parents will speak as well at the Board Meeting. Paula will deliver a message to the board concerning placing an immediate ban on the practice of beating the children in their district. One question that The Hitting Stops Here! will present to the Supt. and Board is: What information did you base your decision on, for bringing back the practice of beating your students that is more valid than the plethora of scientific data, statistics, and information that proves that beating children is harmful in EVERY way? Mrs. Battershell is in a position to have all administrators, teachers and possibly even bus drivers batter their children. Or, she will serve the purpose of a shell, the second half of her name, which is to protect the soft tenderness of what's underneath; in her case, the children in her care. Batter or shell? Temple wants to reinstate beating their children. This is barbaric and is counter to what the American icon, The Statue of Liberty, given to America by France to celebrate freedom from oppression and the freedon to move forward. In fact, the left foot is slightly in front of the right to symbolize our ever movement forward, defining a "civilized" society. The only other known time that a school system reinstated the practice of paddling was during the Hitler Nazi era in Germany. Not hard at all to figure out why.
