As parents of those who serve in our military, we can often find ourselves in a situation where it is very difficult to advocate for our injured child.  Despite the fact that we raised our child, we do not automatically have rights to his/her health care information.  HIPAA laws block us from information that might be crucial for us to know.  As well, no one from the military side of the house is asking us, the parents, for information to fill in the gaps.

Tune in for VOW Talk Radio on Tuesday, May 22, at 7:00 pm as we discuss the obstacles faced by parents and what needs to be done to ensure that our military children receive the best possible care for their war injuries.

Dee Reid, an Army wife and an Army mom, will be our guest.  She will be sharing about her son’s struggle with Post Traumatic Stress and TBI, and her ongoing fight with the broken system.  Dee has recently starting sharing her story through blog articles and she has created a new website, www.parents4vets.us, with resources which are helpful for those who may find themselves in a similar situation.

Whether you are a spouse, a parent, a sibling, or a friend, if you find yourself in a supportive role for a combat veteran, we hope you will tune in for this episode of VOW Talk Radio.  We all need to work together to help each other through life after combat.  Our combat veterans deserve our best skills and our complete attention.  There is no better advocate than YOU!
