Join author and healthcare expert Ken Farbstein discuss the importance of being an empowered healthcare consumer.

Mr Farbstein recently completed his second elected term as the President of the Consumer Health Quality Council of Health Care for All.  Ken is an award-winning expert on patient-centered design for hospitals and medical practices, as Managing Principal of Melior Consulting Group for the last 15 years.  

Ken advises clinical and administrative leaders in hospitals, addiction treatment centers, medical groups, health maintenance organizations, and state government on ways to improve the quality of care and reduce costs through rapid cycle techniques.  He guided a six-hospital system through a multi-year effort, winning the $25,000 first annual Premier Award for Hospital Medication Safety.

     He writes Patient Safety Blog (http://www.PatientSafetyBlog.com), with more than 800 stories to empower patients and their families.  His book, Getting Your Best Health Care:  Real-World Stories for Patient Empowerment, is published by Dorland Health, available for consumer purchase beginning April 15, 2011.  He leads Patient AdvoCare, advising patient advocates and patients on staying safe and healthy while receiving healthcare.
