Dr. Piero Calvi-Parisetti is a medical doctor and has been a university professor, teaching graduate and doctoral students at three major universities. He is a member of the Society for Psychical Research and the International Association of Near-Death Studies. He is also a member of the Wainbridge Institute in the US, which carries out cutting-edge fundamental and applied psychical research. In 2008 he decided to write his own book, 21 Days into the Afterlife.
