Dan “Sully” Sullivan is a Chicago based Stand-Up Poet. His personal-narrative, anthemic poetry is at times hilarious, mostly inspiring, usually desperate, and always heartwarming.  He’s one part Carl Sandburg, one part Mike Ditka, and two parts Teddy Bear. Yes, he is four parts.

He has appeared on Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO, National Public Radio, and your mom’s couch. He is the Chicago Mental Graffiti 2003, 04, & 05 Poetry Slam Champion and the recipient of The 2003 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Poetry Award. Sully is a member of The Speak’Easy Ensemble and makes up one half of the adorable duo Death From Below.

Dan Sully is the Co-Founder & Sponsor of the Oak Park River Forest High School Spoken Word Club.  the largest spoken word program in a public school in the country.  The club allows students to create creative and meaningful work in a safe and supportive environment.

He has performed at colleges, universities, schools, museums, festivals, bars, libraries, living rooms, theaters, coffeehouses, and community centers all over the world.

Sully has been published in several magazines & anthologies including The Columbia Poetry Review,Learn Then Burn: A Modern Poetry Anthology for the Classroom, & Poems From The Big Muddy: The 2004 National Poetry Slam Anthology.
