Jan Davies McDermott

Jan Davies McDermont drops by to talk with us ON THE DEAN'S LIST. 

 

As President of Guiding Light Business Consulting, LLC, Jan has assisted in the launch and growth of hundreds of small businesses over the course of fourteen years of work with the SBTDC, predominately with traditional start-up companies.  In her sixteenth year as the Owner and Innkeeper at Davies House Inn Georgetown Bed & Breakfast, Jan has hosted celebrities from around the world.

 

Trained as a Certified Business Consultant through the Academy of Professional Small Business Consultants at Grand Valley State University, Jan has worked developing small business owners since 1996, including five years serving women business owners with WPO, and eight years as adjunct faculty at Schoolcraft College. 

 

Jan serves on the Governing Body of the Athena Power Int'l Program and administers the program in Washtenaw County. 

In addition, she serves on the Board of the Grass Lake Sanctuary Retreat and Land Conservancy, and the Ambassador Corps of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce. Jan previously served on the Board of Directors of the Women Business Owners of Southeastern Michigan, and was a Founding Facilitator and Chapter Chair with the Women President's Organization. Jan was recognized as one of the 20 most influential women of Washtenaw & Livingston Counties.
