Diane Ravitch is one of the nation’s leading educational historians.

Ravitch is author of the book “The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education,” which explores the reform movement and the push for more charter schools, tenure reform, and other measures. A research professor of education at New York University and a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., she has worked for both Republican and Democratic administrations.
