Tattoos. I’m a huge fan of the ink and the creative artists who use the human body as their canvas. Yes, I have a few tattoos myself and it feels totally mainstream these days to have ink. Approximately 14% of Americans have at least one tattoo and a whopping 40% between the ages of 26 and 40 have at least one. Here are some tattoo stats for fun and here are more. Some say it makes them feel sexy and some say it makes them feel rebellious. For many people, including me, tattoos are tied to a life event or have some type of personal meaning. Inked Out New Jersey is the premier tattoo convention in NJ and an event that I’ve attended and photographed for several years. This week kicks off a 3-part series on tattoo artists whom I’ve come to know through various conventions in NJ. First up is Jhon Campuzano. In 2010, Jhon (yes, the spelling is correct!) discovered the world of tattooing and knew that it was his calling. He’s an award winning artist based out of NY and while attending numerous conventions, had the opportunity to meet and work beside some of the greatest artists. Jhon is experienced in all styles of tattooing, however has more interest in black and grey realism, portraits, horror and pieces that require a lot of detailed work. Check out his work here. After the interview, check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
