A slice of history will be revealed in Asbury Park on June 2 at the House of Independents when Filmmaker Robin Kampf's documentary Love Wins is premiered. The film chronicles the 45 year relationship of Ocean Grove residents Jan Moore and Emily Sonnessa, both now in their 80's. They met and fell in love during a time when doing so was strictly taboo, and they raised a family of 3 children while living in suburban NJ and remaining completely in the closet. In 2007 Jan and Emily were united in a civil union, and ultimately in 2013 they were legally wed. In addition to Robin, we'll be joined by Jan and Emily, so expect some lively and candid conversation. Filmmaker Robin Kampf met Sonnessa and Moore through their involvement with the gay activist group Garden State Equality and decided she wanted to tell their story on film. Robin Kampf is an award-winning writer, producer, director, cinematographer and editor with several years of experience in non-fiction documentary and news/features production. She has also worked on several feature films including Presumed InnocentBonfire of the VanitiesJacobs Ladder, and many others. She currently owns RJK Media, a video production company working in all facets of production in cable, broadcast and corporate television. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
