Filmmaker Frank M Calo is an independent film producer and director with over 20 years of industry experience in a broad range of capacities. His critically acclaimed The Believer, starring Ryan Gosling and Billy Zane, won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2001 Sundance Festival. Before moving into independent producing, Frank worked on studio pictures for Lions Gate and New Line with such greats as Robert DeNiro, Demi Moore, Mike Myers, Shelly Winters, Queen Latifah, and Marlon Brando. A graduate of the NYU Tisch School of Film, Frank taught film for the Columbia Graduate Film Program, Harvard Film Program, and the International Film and Television Workshop in Rockport, ME. Frank’s latest project is a documentary, Hernan of Panama. This film will take you on an inspirational flight of one man’s mesmerizing journey from the jungles of Venezuela to the cities of Panama, where he is known throughout Panama as HERNAN DE PANAMA. Watch the trailer here. Frank has a Kickstarter campaign in progress to help with financing his project, and he anticipates returning to Panama to complete the filming in January of 2016. A trusted friend of Hernan brought the project to Producers Doug Proctor and Frank M. Calo's attention, and they fell in love with this man's incredible journey.
