With Andrew DePrisco at the helm since the beginning, Cabaret for Life is celebrating 20 years of raising funds for organizations that help people coping with life-threatening diseases. With community support, CFL brings talented people together to help others in need. Each year CFL produces multiple cabaret and musical theatre shows. Prior to forming CFL, Andrew  began volunteering for The Center in Asbury Park in 1991. He produced, wrote, and directed 4 annual cabaret benefits for The Center at St. Anselm’s Church in Wayside, NJ, and these shows helped raise tens of thousands of dollars. Cabaret for Life was established in September 1995 by a core group of Monmouth and Ocean County residents. CFL has cooperated with Broadway artists like Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Charles Strouse, Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz, and others. Each of these professionals has donated the rights to their work to CFL free of charge. Andrew DePrisco has served as president of CFL since its inception and has produced and/or directed every major show including such favorites as Hairspray, Ragtime, Swinging on a Star, Cabaret Goes to Hollywood, A Century of Broadway, elegies for angels, punks and raging queens, and all three seasons of Gay and Be Glitter, and Housewives of Monmouth County. CFL has donated to The Frances Foundation For Kids Fighting Cancer, K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital/Jersey Shore University Medical Center Family HIV Program (Neptune, NJ), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, TN), The Valerie Fund Children’s Center at Monmouth Medical Center, and many more. In 2005 Andrew was honored by the Volunteer Center of Monmouth County as Volunteer of the Year for his work with CFL. After the interview, check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
