The Washington Nationals did their part, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1 in PNC Park, and the Philadelphia Phillies were leading the New York Mets as the Nats wrapped up their win. Washington's win lowered their magic number to win the NL East to one and the Phillies had a 10-7 lead in the ninth as things wrapped up in Pittsburgh.
