7-8Pm PST: The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) President Jefferson Keel delivered the 9th annual State of Indian Nations address on Friday, January 29, 2010 from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The speech coincided with the release of President Barack Obama's budget. Themes included: Indian Country's priorities for the 111th Congress and the Obama Administration; economic development; jobs for Native Americans; and the roles for tribal governments in our economy and society. Special thanks to NV1.org for providing the content & giving NAMAPAHH First People's Radio permission to re-broadcast it. The speech is 30 minutes, but there is also a valuable Q & A that follows. More info & an archived video of this event is at www.ncai.org To hear more programs that are invaluable to all of us out here in Indian Country & beyond, Visit Native Voice 1's site at www.NV1.org (offering Native news and a variety of new programs specials, from documentaries, Native Radio Theater, Storytelling, and Native Hip Hop) 8-9pm PST: After we listen, I will open up the phone lines for comments & other concerns, including the current State of Emergency for tribes in SD & AZ. I will also read some Press Releases from Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Chairman's office, which paints the ongoing serious picture of what this tribe in particular is facing, due to harsh winter snow storms & what their IMMEDIATE needs are. I will also share some great music as well!
