THE QUEEN ELIZABETH Hospital says it has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding two maternal deaths which occurred within the last two weeks. This is according to a release issued by the institution. It said according to the established protocol, all maternal deaths are investigated by a committee led by the director of medical services and also include the head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, the director of Nursing Services, the clinical risk manager and the legal officer. "The committee was expanded by the chief executive officer, Dr Dexter James, to include a representative from the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners to ensure balance and objectivity in the investigation. The director of Medical Services, Mr Anthony Harris will meet with the families of the deceased shortly to apprise them of the status of the investigations,” the release stated. It added that the QEH continues to provide outstanding maternal care to all expectant mothers and is considered a safe institution for the delivery of babies. Doctors will continue to malpractice, nurses will continue to ignore patients and Barbadian citizens will get no answer and no justice. If there is a lawsuit, which we hear there is, it will be settled out of court for the most they can possible get, to wit: $250,000.00.
