Tonight's special show features Wynona's House, NJ: Proffit; a Child Advocacy Center. The mission of Wynona's House is to promote justice and healing of child victims of abuse and violence by coordinating investigative, prosecutorial, treatment, and prevention services. The vision of Wynona's House is create an community where children are safe, families, are strong, and victims become children again, by: • Reducing the number of times a child is interviewed during the investigation phase to a single interview conducted by a specially trained interviewer in a child-friendly environment
• Increasing successful prosecution through improved evidence collection, victim-witness advocacy, and partnerships with municipal law enforcement • Promoting the research and development of innovative evidence-based behavioral health treatments for children and families • Strengthening the safety net for children through community outreach, education, and prevention efforts. Dominic Prophete, JD, is the Chief
Executive Officer of the CAC. The core of any Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is the multi-disciplinary team (MDT). At Wynona's House, the multi-disciplinary team includes representatives from the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit, the Newark Beth Israel Center's Metro Regional Diagnostic Treatment Center, Partnership for Children of Essex, CASA of Essex. The team consists of social workers, law enforcement officials, detectives, county prosecutors, medical and mental health providers, victim advocates, and Wynona's House nonprofit staff. Team members provide technical assistance, advice to each other both through formal means, such as case review meetings and informal conversations to support service delivery and one another as professionals.
