Tonight's special guest is Isana Wild from British Columbia, Canada, a child abuse survivor and author of 'Unfinished: a Personal Journey of Healing, Self-Discovery and Resilience'. She explains, “I encountered multiple forms of abuse and before the age of eight, I had lived through repeated sexual abuse from my oldest brother and a friend of the family. I lived in constant fear, not only of what was happening around me but also a deep-rooted fear of God. I constantly struggled to fit in and cope in a world that made no sense to me.” Isana’s lack of self-esteem and unresolved abuse landed her in a marriage that she was not at all prepared for. After four years, her anger issues were intense and she not only divorced her husband, but her family and the God that she could never please. Isana continues, “I participated in a 12-week program for victims of sexual abuse and thus began the long journey to heal from my past and the trauma that I had lived through. I pursued a career as a police officer only to discover that it was a world of inconsistencies and abuse, triggering everything that I had fought so hard to overcome. In 2011 I began to write my story, firstly as a tool to help myself heal, and secondly to help others.” The memoir is her contribution to helping others who have experienced childhood and adult trauma in the hope that her healing will send a message that forgiveness is possible, and that bitterness is not the only outcome. Isana finally feels whole and wants the same for those who have lived through similar experiences.
