Tonight's special guest is Anne-Marie Rose Byzuk from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of many. As Anne-Marie relates, “I have suffered physical abuse, sexual abuse, and mental abuse ever since I could remember, from my mother to her boyfriends to my stepdad. My stepfather started out by resenting my mother for choosing the party life over her children. That’s when things escalated. He was not my only abuser; my first abuser was a babysitter. My stepdad’s friend, I remember visiting the police station. But my mother’s party life led me to meet five or more men who either sexually assaulted me or I had to watch them abuse her. The hardest part about abuse is people not believing you, people denying your truths. Today I am in a healthy relationship of 3 years with 3 fur children: a hamster, a dog, and a cat. But I still have to take each day in stride. I suffer from depression, social anxiety, bpd. I have shut myself off for too long and it’s time I start dealing with my trauma. I try to utilize apps and childhood abuse recovery meetings.” Anne-Marie is a consistent participant on NAASCA's new daytime Recovery Meeting series on ZOOM, and is joining us on the radio show for the first time. As she shares, “For more in-depth type of healing and support, I turn to the NAASCA ZOOM meetings 3 days a week. We’ve become a family; they’ve become a part of my weekly routine. I cannot thank the NAASCA founders enough for this opportunity.” Welcome, Anne-Marie!
