Because we are constantly bombarded with sensational news stories of danger and wrongdoing, we are used to overlooking the less spectacular accounts of ordinary goodness. But, when we routinely ignore the seemingly mundane, positive stories in our daily lives, we risk developing a skewed, negative perspective on the world around us.

New Thought minister Edward Viljoen asserts that a complete and fulfilled life is comprised of garden-variety acts of kindness, faith, and compassion. Offering personal stories and practices to illustrate the ease of embracing a life centered on kindheartedness, Viljoen demonstrates:

  • How caring about the ordinary things creates extraordinary life experiences
  • How to trust goodness in the face of life’s tragedies
  • How ordinary kindness guides us to make important life choices
  • How in moments of exasperation we sometimes lose our composure, and how that is nothing to be ashamed about
  • How ordinary goodness leads to a redefining of Divinity
