You know that person at work who is always in a bad mood and never smiles? Do you want to hang out with that person or duck into another room when you see them walking down the hallway?
Read the last part of Maya Angelou’s quote again: “people will never forget how you made them feel.”
She doesn’t specifically say if you make people feel good they won’t forget you. Just that people will never forget how you made them feel.
During your eulogy after you’re gone is the speaker going to say that you made people feel good or that you were tiring to be around and people tried to avoid you?
Though some days can be difficult and stressful, look people in the eye and give them a smile. Give them encouragement and complement them about something every now and then.
Even if people know you as the office (or family) grouch your reputation will be rehabilitated quickly because people never forget how you made them feel.
