Journalist and author Perri Knize set out on a journey to find a piano, but after finding the one she loved and buying it, a grand piano she came to know as Marlene, something went wrong from the time she first played it to the time it was delivered to her home. Not willing to give up on Marlene, she scoured the world for the answer to restoring her.
This GRAND journey opened up larger questions about the nature of our existence and the metaphysical properties of musical instruments. Why do some instruments speak to some people? Can music change us physically and even reset and properly align our internal rhythms? What gives a piano, or any instrument, its soul?
Join host Linda Rez from Minstrel and Muse as we find out how Marlene is doing today and have an in-depth discussion with Perri Knize about the nature of humankind and our deep need for music.
We highly recommend the book, Grand Obsession: A Piano Odyssey.
