This is the 3rd show in the Celebrating National Women's History Month series. The special guest is Makia White-Durden. Makia graduated from California State University at Northridge with a degree in Liberal Studies in 1987. Ms. White went on to receive her teaching credentials in the field of both General and Special education, from California State University.  She also received a Masters of Arts Degree in Education and completed work in School Administration in 1990.  Makia White- Durden is proud of an extensive career she held with Los Angeles Unified School district as an educator, mentor teacher, and program specialist.

She is presently pursuing her life’s passion through giving people back their power to live their dreams. She stresses the importance of leading a more satisfying, successful, and fulfilling life. Makia is currently a Life Coach in the state of Georgia. She is founder and CEO of Empowered1 Life Coach LLC. Her areas of specialization are life, career, and success coaching. In addition, she is the director of Empowering Our Sisters Souls at Faith Development center and is the Lead instructor for the One Accord Prayer Ministry.  

During this show we will discuss the pros and cons of academic studies and how education impacts the success of African-American Women. We will also share insights on how to be successful while pursuing a higher degree.
