Dr. Cathy Reimers Ph.D., psychologist in New Jersey, and cohost Jennifer Russello, discuss whether cell phones are a luxurious hazard or a necessary evil for kids. All parents want to be able to contact their kids at any time and cell phones seem like the obvious solution, but beware.... according to the Cyber-bullying Research Center (CRC), 25 percent of kids have been harassed or bullied via calls or texts on cell phones. About half of the children who are cyber-bullied don't even tell their parents. 60 percent of kids have sent texts during classroom hours. 15 percent of kids have received text messages that are sexual in nature (sexting) from someone they know. Kids can easily misuse cell phones, they can even become inadvertent cyber-bullies or victims of dangerous cyber-bullying activity. On the other hand, a cell phone is an excellent way to stay in touch with your child.  Listen in and join us to explore just one startling inconvenience of the current generation of "convenience".
