Today's guest is poet, author, event producer & proud Detroiter, Joel "Fluent" Greene. Green is the author of three books, Poems of Bungalow &Concrete, Waxing & Waning, and his latest book is "Somewhere in the Middle: Love Poems."

Joel Fluent Greene is a Detroit-based poet, author, & event curator and was the longest-running host of Detroit’s iconic, Cafe Mahogany poetry nights.

Greene has shared the stage with The Roots, Pharrell Williams, The Last Poets, Talib Kweli, Ledisi, Jessica Care Moore, Big Sean, Saul Williams, The Detroit Red Wings and many more. Greene has performed and emceed for corporations and institutions such as Fiat Chrysler, McDonald’s, Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Coca-Cola, Write A House, 100 Black Men of America, Inside-Out Detroit and The Nuyorican Poets Cafe. He has held workshops and performed in over 50 Metro Detroit schools for thousands of youth. 

Greene produces the acclaimed stage series, A MAN CAN CHANGE at the Detroit Music Hall's Jazz Cafe, and the monthly event Mahogany @ The Museum held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History in Detroit.
