Lior Gepstein, MD, PhD

Lior Gepstein, MD, PhD is the new Chairman of the Cardiology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus, Professor of Physiology and Medicine (Cardiology) at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and heads the Sohnis Family Research Laboratory for Cardiac Electrophysiology and Regenerative Medicine.Prof. Lior Gepstein received his medical degree from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel and conducted his PhD thesis at the same institute. During this period he was involved in the development of a three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping techniques, which became the state-of-the-art method for the treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias. Currently, he holds the position of Professor of Physiology and Medicine (Cardiology) at the Technion’s Faculty of Medicine and heads the “Sohnis Family Research Laboratory for Cardiac Electrophysiology and Regenerative Medicine”. He also serves as an attending electrophysiologist specialist at the affiliated Rambam Medical Center.

Rafael Beyar, MD, DSc

Professor Rafael (Rafi) Beyar was born in Tel Aviv in 1952, graduated from the School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University in 1977 (MD), the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1983 (DSc), and the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University in 2008 (MPH). In 1983, Prof. Beyar founded the Heart System Research Center at the Technion, where he served as Coordinator and Director. He completed his residency in medicine at Rambam (1983-1985) and a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins University (1985-1987).
