World Premiere of Woman Composer

Melodia Women's Choir gives voice to the work of women composers in a special commissioning program. On November 14, 2009 in New York City, the choir will present the world premiere of a new commissioned work by Chris Lastovicka, winner of Melodia’s unique “Women Composer Commissioning Competition.” Lastovicka's new work is written for women’s voices, piano and strings, and features poems by the current Poet Laureate, Kay Ryan. Join Melodia's Founder/executive director Jennifer Clarke, artistic director/conductor Cynthia Powell and composer Chris Lastovicka for a vibrant discussion of women composers and the premiere of this new work in a rebroadcast of a popular July program.
