Ever considered participating in a volunteer program in Tanzania in East Africa? I’ve actually thought about it over the recent few months, but wasn’t really sure which organizations were working in Tanzania and what the possibilities were…until I came across Young Ambassadors for Opportunity (YAO), and learned about their micro-credit programs which they are currently implementing in this region in Africa. Sonya Perez-Lauterbach, Manager at YAO, and I got a chance to talk about the Tanzanian program, how the loans are impacting local communities, how the loan process works, training involved and of course, expectations for volunteers who are interested in getting involved. For those of you who are interested, there is a deadline coming up over the next week, so definitely get with Sonya at sperez-lauterbach@opportunity.org if you’re interested.
