Vasilios (Christofilakos) Only uses his first name
I've been in the fashion arena since I graduated FIT in the early 1980s . I designed and freelanced for many companies from JC Penny when they were in NYC, to Liz Claiborne, and for a hot minute i think the shoe company was named Ibiza or Ipanema (ladies shoes).. drew the fashion ads for NYC furriers which appeared i the NYTimes, Daily News, etc...in the interim i had started a ground crew business for fashion runway shows in NYC where I was in charge of getting dressers, the seamstresses, the go-fors, etc...from Fendi to Valentino. Headed the import department at the then named Accessories Association (an industry trade association).
And then in 1991 I was asked to teach a leather class at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. I continued to work in the fashion industry and even taught sketching shoes at Kenneth Cole in NYC to their line builders for both the men's and women's divisions.
I joined my long time friend and colleague of many years in the footwear industry, Robert, in co-finding and developing a new American men's fashion shoe brand, "RobertoVasi" which debuted in Las Vegas during the shoe market February of 2012. We're now in DSW and waiting for a few others retailers to pick us up...we've become a designer / wholesale business for now.
