Ron Chávez was born in the valley of Puerto de Luna on the banks of the Pecos River in New Mexico. In Santa Rosa, New Mexico he was the owner of the famous Route 66 Club Café. During that epic time, Chávez and his Route 66 café enjoyed fame in world wide major media where he spun stories about how he shinned shoes in front of the Club Café as a little boy and about the people he came in contact with over the years. In time he was known as the Route 66 storyteller. At that time his writings began to catch fire. His first short story was published in the anthology VOCES by University of New Mexico Press. Today he lives and writes in Taos, New Mexico.
