Anthony Witherspoon, of Florissant, has been appointed by Governor Jay Nixon to the 21st Circuit Judicial Commission. Witherspoon is a senior pastor for Washington Metropolitan AME Zion. He holds a Master’s of Divinity from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Livingstone College. When a vacancy occurs on the bench of the 21st Circuit, the commission nominates three people and the governor appoints one. He also is an Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University in the Sociology department he teaches the Theology course African-American History.
