On November 14 1970, the entire Marshall University football team along with the coaching staff and boosters perished in a plane crash that has been described as the most tragic accident in the history of sports. This event was the subject of the movie, We Are Marshall..., several documentaries, and numerous books and articles.
Rather than abolish the program enitrely, the decision was made to rebuild it with a handful of players who didn't make the trip, walk ons, and the incoming freshman class. Today we'll talk with Charles Henry who was a member of the "Young Thundering Herd" team. Charles, an undersized, yet ferocious middle linebacker who had the distinction of being the youngest starting player in America in 1971, will discuss his decison to attend Marshall, the struggles of the team in the year following the plane crash, and his impressions of the movie.
