Oregon Update -- "we petition the Obama administration to nationalize the Twinkie industry and to prevent our nation from losing her sweet creamy center "
 
At this reading, 2927 people have signed a petition on the "we the people" website to nationalize the Twinkie industry after Hostess announced that it was going out of business and selling its assets to the highest bidders plus laying off all of its 18,500 employees after a national strike crippled its business and the company's 33 plants
 
This results in the closure of 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, 570 bakery outlets and 5500 delivery routes throughout the United States.
 
"We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” said Gregory F. Rayburn, chief executive officer. 
 
In addition to Twinkie, hostess will also be selling its popular brands including hostess, Drakes, Dolly Madison which makes cupcakes, dingdong's, Ho Ho's, snowballs, Wonder, Nations Pride, Home Pride, Butternut and Beefsteak.

So far, over 30 states have requested to secede from the Union, and surprisingly including Oregon.
