Church without Walls: Awakening

In the two milenia of her existence, the Church has experienced awakenings, indeed Great Awakenings, the mighty moving of God through the Church with such ferocity that the world was set ablaze for a season with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Darkness was turned to light.  The course of human history shifted and disasters averted.  Many would say today that we are again in dire need of an awakening.  So why is the Lord not stirred to action by the darkness, calamities and trials of our day?  What is it that stirs the Lord "out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine"?
