On the Wednesday May 22nd, 2013 broadcast at 2PM Pacific/5PM Eastern our very special guest is Douglas Blayney, MD, the Ann & John Doerr Medical Director of the Cancer Center at Stanford University Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Following the publication by Keating et al of: 'Tumor Boards and the Quality of Cancer Care' a series of headlines appeared in and around the professional media questioning the value proposition of the tumor board to the quality of care offered at the VA and by proxy most community hospital if not acadmic medical center based tumor boards.

In response to the Keating piece, Dr. Blayney opines further context and perspective in 'Tumor Boards (team Huddles) Aren’t Enough to Reach the Goal‘. While we provide some historical considerations in 'Tumor Board: Is There Value in Multidisciplinary Case Consideration?'

A timely and important topic, we dive a little deeper into his thought process and recommendations to better align this important multi-disciplinary and collaborative experience with the goal of improved patient outcomes.
