The Police Director of Irvington New Jersey suspended the Police Chief apparently for some non-criminal infraction.  This seems to be a most unusual occurrence.  We have not been able to find a similar situation that a Police Director suspended the Police Chief.  It appears that only Councilman David Lyons is questioning this action by Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago.

We are attempting to determine if Irvington Police Chief Michael Chase had a hearing for any charges filed in order to execute the suspension.  Additionally, was this action taken against the Chief legal?  Joseph Santiago was the Police Director of the Newark New Jersey Police Department when Darren Nance was unlawfully terminated.

We expect to obtain comments from Irvington Mayor Wayne Smith, Police Director Santiago, Chief Michael Chase, members of the Irvington Municipal Council and others.
