Desprogramando a "Igreja" de Cristo (Deprogramming the "Church" of Christ)

Do grego εκκλησ?α [ekklesia] e latim ecclesia, Igreja é uma palavra de origem grega escolhida pelos autores da Septuaginta (tradução grega da Bíblia Hebraica) para traduzir o termo hebraico q(e)hal Yahveh, usado entre os judeus para designar a assembleia geral do "povo do deserto", reunida ao apelo de Moisés.
Etimologicamente a palavra grega ekklesia é composta de dois radicais gregos: ek que significa para fora e klesia que significa chamados (chamados para fora).
No contexto bíblico, o termo igreja pode designar reunião de pessoas, sem estar necessariamente associado a uma edificação ou a uma doutrina específica. No texto bíblico, no "NT", Igreja aparece diversas vezes, sendo utilizada como referência a um agrupamento de pessoas, tendo Cristo como Cabeça desse povo, e não a edificações ou templos. Etymologically the Greek word ekklesia is composed of two Greek root: ek meaning out and called klesia meaning (called out). In the biblical context, the term church meeting may appoint people without necessarily being associated with a building or a specific doctrine. In the biblical text, the "NT" the word church appears several times, being used to refer to a group of Christians, Christ being the head of that people, not buildings or temples.
