"Someone in the karaoke bar sang an old Blue Oyster Cult song, “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” two days before my sixteen year old cat died. I was impressed that someone tackled such a complicated song. It was fitting that I heard this, because for weeks I had been telling my cat it was okay to let go of his body and his time with me. I would miss him, but his time here had come to an end. He was almost 16 years old. As I left the bar, the song ran through my head. While driving the next day, I heard it on the radio. “Seasons don’t fear the reaper, nor do the wind, the sun, and the rain. We can be like they are. Come on baby...”
