Call (646) 478-4216 to chime in on your NY Jets as Lon Siegel brings you the best 60 Jets minutes you will find anywhere - Jets Zone Radio!

Carolina's Cam Newton threw for 273 yards and a touchdown, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn had two sacks and returned an interception 42 yards for a score and the Panthers bounced back from their most lopsided loss of the season with a 30-20 victory on Sunday over the NY Jets.

After surrendering 313 yards passing and four touchdowns to Drew Brees in a 31-13 loss to the Saints last week, the Panthers limited Geno Smith to 167 yards passing and sacked him four times.  Smith had his fifth interception of the season returned for a touchdown this season - tying a team record with Joe Namath of all people.  Carolina won for its ninth time in 10 games.

The Jets will be eliminated for playoff contention if Baltimore wins at Detroit on Monday night.

Jeff Cumberland had a touchdown catch, and rookie defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson reminded most NFL observers of William "Refrigerator" Perry when he bulldozed his way for a 1-yard touchdown run on a goal-line play for the Jets.

With the Panthers leading 16-13, the Jets had a chance to take the lead, but failed to pick up a first down.  Ryan Quigley's punt was blocked by Jason Williams and downed at the Jets 14.  Four plays later, Mike Tolbert scored on a 1-yard run to make it a two possession game.

The Jets ran for 157 yards - the most allowed by the Panthers this season.
