Live your yoga off the mat with Mary Lynn Fitton.  Mary Lynn is the founder and creator of The Art of Yoga Project (AYP), a revolutionary program that focuses on early intervention to help at-risk and sexually exploited girls prepare for a positive future.

Serving about 500 girls annually in northern California, AYP sends specially trained yoga teachers and art therapists into juvenile detention centers and rehabilitation facilities to teach a proprietary intervention program.  Through yoga’s physical exercises for strength, health, and vitality and its meditative practices for self-reflection and centering, AYP leads teenage girls toward accountability to self, others, and community by providing practical tools to affect behavioral change.

A yoga instructor since 1998, Mary Lynn has witnessed first-hand the power of a yoga practice to help girls identify and address their physical and emotional issues.  One of AYP’s star students is featured in this episode’s slide show.  You’ll hear more about her remarkable transformation and other girls who are being empowered through yoga to reach their full potential.
