Michael J Fox Outfoxing Parkinsons Disease

On a recent cover of Neurology Now magazine you can enjoy Back to the Future star Michael J Fox ‘s inspiring the cover story “Outfoxing Parkinson’s Disease”.  

 “When I got my diagnosis,” says Fox, “the first thing the doctor did was give me a prescription. Countless PD patients have had this same experience. If that doctor could have also given me a pamphlet describing something I could do to help myself and others over the long term—beyond filling a prescription—that would have meant everything.  We want patients and the PD community to know: There is something you can do. In fact, you may be the only one who can do it.”

In this interesting episode Bobbie talks about just that – what you can do to help yourself and others with Parkinson’s Disease -  the chronic, degenerative neurological disorder caused by loss of dopamine and dysfunction of braincells in various regions of the brain that affects one in 100 people by the age of 60.

Recently, Michael introduced Fox Trial Finder (foxtrialfinder.org), a leading edge Web-based tool that connects willing volunteers with clinical trials testing new drugs and other therapies for PD—trials that desperately need the participation of volunteers. It’s all part of the larger goal of sreamlining the path to the cure and bring better PD therapies to patients as quickly as possible.
